Middletown police find drugs hidden in man’s underwear

Two men are facing felony drug charges after they allegedly were delivering drugs to a Middletown home being searched by police.

Johnathan Hawes, 25, and Joshua Johnson, 28, both of Dayton, were taken into custody on Aug. 30 when members of the Middletown Police Special Response team were serving a search warrant in the 800 block of North University Boulevard.

Hawes, who was a passenger in a car driven by Johnson, had fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine hidden in his underwear, according to Middletown police Lt. Jimmy Cunningham.

Hawes is charged with four counts of drug abuse.

Johnson is charged with felony permitting drug abuse.

Both are housed in the Middletown City Jail and are scheduled to be in Middletown Municipal Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.

Cunningham said the house was being searched for drugs when the duo allegedly arrived to deliver more.
