Middletown pharmacy robbed by man claiming to have machete

Middletown police are investigating tips that may lead them to the man who entered CVS on South Breiel Boulevard, said he had a machete, and then fled with medication.

“We are optimistic,” said Lt. Scott Reeve, adding that detectives have received a number of tips since posting the suspect’s image on social media.

Middletown police told this news outlet they are currently investigating three leads.

The man, who entered the story about 9:30 p.m. Friday, never displayed a weapon, but it appeared he was hiding something under his shirt, according to Reeve.

Reeve said the man stole “a small amount” of medication and no one was injured in the robbery.

Police are “pretty sure” the suspect will be caught because of the surveillance video and evidence collected at the scene, Reeve said.

Earlier this year, there was a rash of robberies at area pharmacies, Reeve said.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Middletown police at 513-425-7700.
