Man who died after being struck by car in Franklin identified

Franklin police have identified the man who died earlier today after being struck by a car as David “Weegie” Napier of Franklin.

Police said they are continuing their investigation into the incident.

INITIAL REPORT:

A 55-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle this morning in Franklin.

Franklin Police Chief Russell Whitman said an EMS unit was summoned about 6:40 a.m. for a person that was struck by a vehicle on the west side of the Lions Bridge.

Police said the man went into the roadway in front of a vehicle traveling north on Miami Avenue while turning right onto Lions Bridge.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle had the green light.

The pedestrian was transported to Atrium Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to police

The driver of the vehicle, Jessi Siler, 21, of Middletown has been cited for driving under suspension, police said.
