Man arrested for stealing air conditioners from United Way

A 30-year-old Hamilton man is behind bars today following the theft of five air conditioners from two non-profit organizations.

Jason Bradley Baker of Race Street was arrested at 11:53 a.m. today by Hamilton police Detective Frank Botts and charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of theft and two counts of vandalism.

Baker allegedly stole two air conditioning units from Hamilton Community Foundation, 319 N. Third St., and three air conditioning units from the United Way of Butler County, 323 N. Third St., sometime after 5 p.m. Tuesday and before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The thefts of the five air conditioners not only caused discomfort to employees at both non-profits, but a great monetary loss to both organizations, as well, according to police.

“To steal from these benevolent organizations makes this crime even more repugnant,” said Sgt. Michael Waldeck, investigations section supervisor. “Detective Botts worked numerous hours and his work was diligent. I commend him for his efforts.”
