Suspicious package in Warren County determined non-hazardous

A suspicious package that was found near Waynesville has been determined to be non-hazardous, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Units were first dispatched to check a package that might have fallen out of a small airplane in the area of New Burlington and Furmas-Oglesby roads in Warren County.

Investigators told our crew a report of a low-flying aircraft led to the initial report the package fell from a plane. But, state troopers now believe the package did not fall from an aircraft.

Additional details about the investigation were not available.

FIRST REPORT

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a small plane dropped a package in the area of New Burlington and Furmas-Oglesby roads near Waynesville around noon, according to officials.

The Dayton Bomb Squad and the ATF were called as a precaution, until it can be determined what the package is, the patrol said.
