New street planned for Monroe’s growing industrial park

A new street will be built this year in the growing Park North Industrial Park.

Monroe City Council recently accepted a donation of land that will be used as a new public right of way in the industrial park near Interstate 75.

As part of the re-platting of two lots, the right of way will be used to build Navigator Way that will link Exploration Drive with Union Road.

Council accepted the land for the new street in order to provide access to a user of an approximate 1 million square foot building in Park North at the earliest possible time, according to city officials.

City Manager Bill Brock said building on the north side of the new street is where online retailer Hayneedle is located, while on the south side of the new street a speculative building of more than 600,000 square feet is currently under construction. Brock said the new building is expected to be completed this fall.
