Mulch fire results in damage to Hamilton home

The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a call this afternoon in the 3900 block of Freeman Avenue for a mulch fire.

The fire caused moderate damage to the home, according to fire officials, but no injuries were reported.

Fire Investigator Trevor Snider said firefighters had the incident under control in about an hour.

“Everything went well out there and nobody was injured,” Snider said.

Sometimes, due to heat, decomposing mulch can start to smolder. As a precaution, fire officials have previously said people should not throw cigarette butts into mulch.
