Middletown streets to be paved in project’s first phase

Several streets have been identified for the first part of Middletown’s 2017 Local Street Improvement Program.

The streets are:

  • Minnesota Street between Pinta and Buena avenues
  • Carolina Street between Burbank Street and Roosevelt Boulevard
  • El Camino Drive
  • Ocala Drive
  • Catalina Court

Once subgrade preparation work is completed, these streets will then be paved by city crews, according to Public Works Director Scott Tadych,

Two contractors submitted a bid for the project. Phenix Stabilization, Inc of Columbus was the lowest and best bid, according to city records.

The lowest bid received for this project on April 28 was $151,189.84 which is 24 percent lower than the engineer’s estimate and 32 percent lower than the next bidder.

The project was included in the city’s 2017 budget.
