Hamilton looking for new utility director

Hamilton Public Utilities Director Kevin Maynard, who has worked for the city more than three years, is returning home to Northwest Ohio, where he will be the Public Utilities Director for the city of Bryan, where he worked from 1980 to 1997.

“I will tell you that in the three years I’ve got to work with Kevin, he has one of the coolest demeanors of anyone I’ve ever come across, something I’m very jealous of,” said City Manager Joshua Smith. “He is able to remain very calm and think through issues.”

“The other thing about Kevin that has impressed me mightily is his focus on improving our capital assets, something that we may have been a little remiss on, early on,” Smith added. “I want to thank Kevin in particular for really building a great team. We have a lot of new faces in utilities. I’m very excited about the future.”

Mayor Pat Moeller, meanwhile, praised Maynard for doing his job well, being very focused on responsive customer service and having “immersed yourself into Hamilton.”

Aside from the work Maynard himself did, his adult children also added to the area’s quality of life by creating a company that offers presentations on possible paranormal activities, including at the city’s Third Street Power Plant.

Maynard started with Hamilton in February, 2o14, as director of the city’s Department of Electric. In September, 2015, he became the city’s public utilities director. He was earning $157,164.80 annually with the city. Bryan is located west of Toledo, near the Indiana border.

Aside from Bryan and Hamilton, he has managed utilities in Austin, Minn.; Wyandotte, Mich.; and Bowling Green, Ohio. He also is a former general manager of AMPO, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Municipal Power, that provides gas and electric aggregation services.

It was not immediately known how the city would go about choosing his replacement.
