Fairfield firefighter earns ‘Fire Officer’ credential

Fairfield Fire Department Lt. Tom Wagner recently earned a designation that less than 400 firefighters worldwide have earned.

The non-profiti Center for Public Safety Excellence issued Wagner the designation of a Fire Officer after completing its program. The program, which is voluntary, recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven areas: experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement, and technical competence.

The Commission on Professional Credentialing awards the designation.

Wagner joined the Fairfield Fire Department in 1993 and has been a lieutenant on the force since 2007. He is licensed by the Ohio Department of Public Safety as a Firefighter II, Fire Instructor, Fire Safety Inspector and Paramedic.
