2 people found dead in Oxford identified

UPDATE @ 2 p.m.: The two people found dead Saturday in Oxford have been identified.

William Benjamen Vollmer, 23, was found in the 800 block of S. Main Street. An autopsy has been performed, but his cause of death is still pending, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Megan E. Dawson, 24, was found in the 300 block of W. Vine Street. An autopsy has been performed, but her cause of death is still pending, according to the coroner’s office.

Results from toxicology tests will determine their causes of death, but cocaine use is suspected in both cases and it’s possible there is a “particularly dangerous batch out there right now,” according to Oxford police.

INITIAL REPORT:

Police in Oxford are warning residents about a possible dangerous batch of cocaine after two people in their 20s were found dead on Saturday.

The persons who died were not students at Miami University and their causes of death will not be known for several weeks, according to a release from Oxford police.

Officers first responded to the 300 block of West Vine Street where a 24-year-old woman was found deceased. While police and the coroner’s office conducted an on-scene investigation, officers were dispatched to Main and Chestnut streets where a 23-year-old man was found deceased, according to the release.

Results from toxicology tests will determine their causes of death, but cocaine use is suspected in both cases and it’s possible there is a “particularly dangerous batch out there right now,” according to the release.
