In just its second year, the Butler County Donut Trail is receiving international exposure.
Launched in early 2016 to highlight the abundance of area shops creating the sweet treat, The Donut Trail is featured in the June/July edition of American Airlines Nexos Magazine on all flights between North America and South America.
Printed copies of the edition started being distributed on board starting June 1 and will be featured there until Aug. 1. A digital copy of the edition may be viewed and/or downloaded at www.tinyurl.com/nexosdonuttrail.
The article, Dulce Aventura (“Sweet Adventure”) appears on page 45 of the 100-page glossy magazine and highlights the $1 million economic impact of the donut trail — or camino de las donas.
The article also speaks with Kelly Hansel of Kelly’s Bakery, Marty Crowe, owner of Stan the Donut Man, and Cindy Wallis, owner of Jupiter Coffee & Donuts and spotlights a culinary creaion of each business.
Nexos is the only Spanish- and Portuguese-language magazine that connects North and South America, with links to the rest of the world, and is found exclusively on American Airlines’ Pan-Latin flights, according to the magazine’s website.
It reaches 20.5 million Spanish and Portugese-speaking passengers — 7.5 million from Central America and Mexico, 6.7 million from the Caribbean, 4.8 million from South America and 1.4 million from Spain.
Tracy Kocher, director of marketing for the Butler County Visitors Bureau, said the article means “tremendous visibility for Butler County.”
The magazine, which focuses on Latin celebrities, events, shopping, fashion, cuisine, real estate and lifestyle, bills itself as an “essential, international travel companion.”View full experience
