The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Dayton Mall, with registration and festivities starting at 7:30 a.m.

The 2012 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, presented locally by Montgomery Orthopaedic Surgeons and Associates, is a competitive 5K event. The course will begin outside the Guitar Center, with awards, entertainment, food and more inside near the Food Court. The event also will include a health and wellness fair, a holiday costume contest, and a Kids Fun Run.

All proceeds will benefit the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Southern Ohio. The event is expected to raise $41,000 for Arthritis Foundation programs, services and research in the Dayton area.

Race honorees include Dr. Homayoun Mesghali, a founding partner of Montgomery Orthopaedic Surgeons and Associates; Tess Maxwell, 36, of Miamisburg, a mother of three recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis; and Dayton resident Aniyah McGowan, 3, who was diagnosed with polyarticular juvenile arthritis when she was 1 year old.
