Two people were injured, at least one seriously, in a head-on collision between an SUV and semi along Fairfield’s busiest road on Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to the crash at 5:34 p.m. in the 6400 block of Dixie Highway near Ross Road and the Ohio 4 Bypass, according to emergency dispatchers.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene and traffic was shut down briefly in both directions along Dixie Highway to allow it to land and take an injured person to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, dispatchers said.

Another injured person was taken by Fairfield life squad to West Chester Hospital.

The name and age of those injured in the crash and the extent of their injuries is not yet available, dispatchers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
