Oxford police arrested a 22-year-old Indiana man who was reportedly trying to impress a woman by “trying to be a bad boy.”

Officers on patrol observed Dennis Meadors Jr., 5676 E. Sand Run Road, West College Corner, Ind., transferring objects between two vehicles in the Circle K parking lot, at 327 W. Spring St., on April 18. Meadors reportedly made several trips between the two vehicles, then attempted to flee the scene when police approached.

Police searched the vehicle Meadors had been loading items into, locating five 40-oz. bottles and six 20-oz. cans of Budweiser beer. A cashier at Circle K told officers she had not sold any beer to Meadors, with security footage showing the 22-year-old making several trips in and out of the store, police report.

Meadors was located shortly thereafter and taken to the Oxford Police Department, where he reportedly told officers he had been stupid and was simply trying to impress a woman who had been in the vehicle containing the stolen beer. Meadors allegedly said he “thought the girl was into bad boys, so I was trying to be a bad boy.”

When told he had lifted just shy of a dozen beers from the store, police said Meadors appeared to be impressed with the hefty haul. He was issued citations for theft and obstructing official business and was released on his own recognizance.
