Part of TriHealth's expanding presence in Butler County will be a new partnership with the management of the approximately $350 million Liberty Center retail development, the Journal-News has learned.

TriHealth, which operates the Bethesda Butler Hospital campus in Hamilton, will provide programming and organize health care events for adults at the center when it opens later this month, said Anjie Britton, executive director of marketing services for the nonprofit hospital and doctor system.

Liberty Center, which has a tagline of "Life. Centered." and has promoted a focus on wellness, announced a similar partnership earlier this year with nearby Cincinnati Children's Liberty Campus. While Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center will provide programming for a children's play area, TriHealth will be presenting Liberty Center's nondenominational chapel on-site and the property's rooftop gardens will be named TriHealth Triumph Gardens, Britton said.

“This area is ripe for growth,” Britton said. “We’ve been in the community for a long time. It’s just really a way to reach out to members and people visiting the community to let them know we are one of the health care providers.”

TriHealth is nearing the finish line on an expansion of the Bethesda Butler campus including a new inpatient building. Formerly known as the Butler County Medical Center on Hamilton-Mason Road, the Cincinnati health network acquired the hospital in 2012.

Last year, TriHealth also opened the newly-built Group Health West Chester, a medical office for the multi-specialty doctors group, on Princeton Glendale Road in the township.

And earlier this year, TriHealth reached an affiliation agreement with McCullough-Hyde Memorial and took a majority stake in the the Oxford hospital. Construction is set to begin this month on a renovation of McCullough-Hyde's emergency department.

At Liberty Center, TriHealth will host informational events and health screenings in public spaces and share health care content on the retail center’s website, Britton said.

“In coordination with our Founding Community Partner, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, TriHealth will provide health and wellness programming classes and education programs for our guests, residents and office tenants on a regular basis. From health screenings to exercise classes and physician lectures, TriHealth will assist us in programming the Unity Chapel, among other public spaces at Liberty Center,” said Beau Arnason, executive vice president of asset management for Liberty Center developer Steiner + Associates, in a written statement.

As far as whether this means TriHealth is looking to open more services or a new location in the area, Britton said, “the thought is we’re exploring what potentially may be next.”

Construction continues at Liberty Center, located at the crossroads of Liberty Way, Ohio 129 and Interstate 75 in Butler County's Liberty Twp. The first phase consists of just over 1 million square feet of shopping, dining, office and residential space.

Anchor tenants Dick's Sporting Goods and Dillard's will be the first retailers to open at the development this Thursday, Oct. 8. A grand opening will be held Oct. 22 for about 65 percent of the retail, restaurant and entertainment tenants, Kevin Cedik, Liberty Center general manager, said Sept. 22 during a tour of the Liberty Twp. complex.
