Home sales increase in Butler, Warren counties

Home sales for the Cincinnati area, as well as Butler and Warren counties started the year strong, according to the Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors.

The board reported 1,447 transactions in January, a 4.3 percent increase over the 1,387 home sales reported in January 2016.

“2017 home sales continued the positive momentum where 2016 left off,” David Welch, the board’s president, said in a statement. “January 2017 posted the highest number of home sales compared to any January historically, exceeding the record set in January 2016.”

The average home price climbed to $180,681 compared to $166,130 a year earlier, a 8.76 percent increase.

Butler County residential sales increased from 274 in January 2016 to 293 this January. Average home price for the county increased from $159,377 to $162,114 during that time.

Warren County residential sales increased from 145 in January 2016 to 196 this January. Average home price for the county rose from $219,930 in January 2016 to $223,730 this January.

Nationwide, January home sales were up 3.3 percent from December on a seasonally adjusted basis, and was up 3.8 percent from January 2016.
