Hamilton water named best-tasting in Ohio

Hamilton’s tap water has recaptured the distinction of most delicious in Ohio.

Hamilton, which in February won a bronze medal in the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting competition, last week regained its previous title of “Best of the Best” tasting Ohio municipal water from the village of Montpelier, the 2016 winner, from the Ohio Section of the American Water Works Association.

The city bested nine other contestants at the competition in Toledo.

The win allows Hamilton to represent Ohio at the annual “Best of the Best” national water taste test at the 2018 AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition, said John Bui, superintendent of Hamilton’s water-production facilities.

“This most recent award by the Ohio Section of the AWWA, as well as our outstanding performance in this competition over the last few years, is a testament to the consistent quality of water that the city produces, and the excellence and diligence of all of the employees in the city’s water system,” Bui said.

“We’ve won six out of the eight years they’ve been having the competition,” Bui told this news outlet. “We do have one of the best-tasting waters in our (Ohio) communities and the surrounding area.”
