An employee impaled by a piece of wood at a Lebanon business Monday, June 22, remains in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, authorities said.

The 28-year-old man, whose name was not released, was transported via medical helicopter to undergo surgery.

Emergency crews responded to America Wood Source, 139 Harmon Ave., at around 2 p.m. The man was wounded by a piece of wood that appeared to pierce his chest.

The man appeared to be
conscious as medical personnel loaded him on the helicopter bound for Miami Valley Hospital.

The family-owned and operated business opened in October 2007 and specializes in mill-work, finishing, cabinet-making and sales, including providing the woodworking industry with mouldings, plywood and lumber, according to the company’s Web site.
