HANOVER TWP. — A 19-year-old Oxford woman may be arraigned in a Butler County Area court this week on felony drug charges.

Butler County sheriff’s deputies charged Brittany Peterson at about 4 p.m. Friday, June 5, during a traffic stop on Morman Road when they said they discovered 210 Ecstasy pills in several baggies.

She was charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs — both second-degree felonies — and permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony.

Further investigations unveiled a safe in a Hamilton apartment where police believe Peterson hangs out, authorities said.

Sgt. Todd Langmeyer said deputies found 105 Ecstacy pills, seven grams of heroin and other pills, including Xanax, in the safe at 222 South E St.

Additional charges are pending investigation, said Langmeyer. “It’s a large amount of Ecstacy,” he added. Charges could be heightened for the drugs found in the safe if investigators find the house is within 1,000 feet of a nearby school, he said.

After being stopped, Peterson admitted she had the pills because she was going to sell them to people, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office credited the arrest to its Regional Narcotics Unit’s undercover investigation.

Peterson, who lives in the 5200 block of Booth Road in Oxford, faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted on the charges.

No arraignment date has been scheduled in Butler County Area II Court in Hamilton, but Butler County Jail personnel said an arraignment could happen as soon as Tuesday, June 9.

She remains in the county jail on $32,600 bond.

There was nothing random about the traffic stop,
the place where she got the alleged MDMA had been under surveillance, a close acquaintance was raided a few months before as part of a continuing snipe hunt for recreational drug users, her purveyor was raided minutes after the traffic stop (they definitely had a warrant before they pulled her over), she had 300 pills, not 200 - they police obviously moved 100 back to her alleged dealer so it didn't look like she was supplying them!
