OXFORD — Butler County United Way is asking county commissioners for $80,000 to revive the information and referral call center that was shut down earlier this year in Oxford because of state funding cuts, according to our news partner Local 12.

According to a proposal under consideration, the agency plans to share the “211” hot line service with Warren and Clinton organizations under a collaborative called Tri-County 211. The coalition would request proposals for a contractor to run the call center and they have already looked at the possibility of running it through the United Way of Greater Center, according to county documents.

Butler County United Way Chairman Bruce Jewett said the call center could be operating by May. In the meantime, agency staff has been answering calls from residents who need services or are in crisis.

A Web site, www.connectyou.org, also was established to help Butler County residents find help.
