HARLAN TWP. — Three teens are recovering today after their car flipped on Gustin-Rider Road, just west of Blanchester.

Around 2 a.m. today, April 16, driver Cameron Carpenter, 19, and his passengers, Cynthia Shields, 19, and Amy Wells, 18, were traveling on Gustin-Rider Road, north of Ohio 28, when the vehicle hit a railroad track and went off the road, striking an electric pole, according to Harlan Twp. Fire Chief Andy Mitten.

The car appeared to have rolled over several times and came to a rest on its side in an open field, Mitten said.

“Alcohol appears to have played a factor on this crash,” said Sgt. Jeremy Landis, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Mitten said the three teens in the car are all Clermont County residents and were taken to Bethesda North Hospital.

Carpenter and Wells are both still in the hospital, but no information on their conditions was available, according to the hospital. Shields was treated and released.

The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating and no charges have been filed.
