HAMILTON — After 15 years on Main Street, Boss Awards will be moving to a new, larger location in Fairfield Twp.

Jamie Wiesman, the third owner of the promotional items business, said more work from big clients have required him to increase his production. After acquiring contracts to print football uniforms for St. Xavier, Boss Awards will also begin printing the school’s basketball and cross country uniforms. Another large contract is also in the works.

The new space, located at 5544B Eureka Drive, is right next door to his co-owner and wife’s hair salon, Curl Up and Dye. It features about 2,800 square feet in space for a storefront, office and warehouse. Wiesman said Boss Awards, with its printable sportswear and trophy business, has proved lucrative after he lost his job at the General Motors plant in Moraine last year.

“Being at General Motors, I didn’t have flexibility whatsoever. I wanted to take a second career in an effort to be my own boss and reduce my own hours,” he said.

The extra time allowed him spend more with his daughters and their cheerleading hobby, which in turn garnered more business, Wiesman said.

Through networking with the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and BNI International, Wiesman said he was able to connect with a bank that could finance him the $6,000 needed for new equipment and signs. The move will hopefully allow him to handle more customers and continue to grow the business, which has increased its sales by about 30 percent since he first took over six years ago.

“I’ve noticed a difference in the last six months that some banks have made an effort to try to extend that lending,” he said. “That’s how I could grow my business.”

Opening April 1 in its new location, Boss Awards will also be launching a new Web site that day — www.Boss-Awards.com — which will include an online ordering option.

Boss Awards, through Easton Auction Co. in Ross Twp., will host a live auction to sell its excess inventory and equipment at 10 a.m. March 27 at its current location at 118 Main St.
