HAMILTON — About 1,000 people were expected to pass through Ryan’s Tavern to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

The 18-month-old Irish pub was full Wednesday evening, March 17, with dozens of people wearing green shirts, pants, hats and even necklaces with flashing lights.

Paula Bryant, 58, of Hamilton and her husband, Ron, 59, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day every year.

“This is a happy holiday,’’ Paula Bryant said. “There are others that are happy, but this one you can drink beer a lot throughout the day.”

Her husband explained the holiday this way:

“It’s just like Cinco de Mayo for Irish people.”
