Adam Monroe’s abilities with a tattooing needle are about to bring him some national exposure on a new, dark drama-comedy television series.

Monroe, 26, who recently opened Ink’d Up Custom Tattoo Design in the Village Shopping Center at 640 S. Main St. in Monroe, is scheduled to appear as himself in upcoming episodes on a new FoxAlpha Films/J8ded Pictures television series beginning this fall called “J8ded.”

Parts of the show, which will feature some of his custom design art work, also will be filmed out of his tattoo shop, Monroe said producer and director Michael Daemon told him. The pilot for the show was partly shot last summer in downtown Cincinnati.

“I think it’s going to be real interesting to have a taste of Hollywood in Monroe, Ohio. I do think that’s something cool,” he said of his involvement with the show.

“It will give us something to talk about. I can’t wait.”

The show is about a popular musical act in the UK and abroad — known as J8ded — that has sold more than 10 million copies of its first CD, according to J8ded.com. The group owns a castle, planes, exotic cars, helicopters, and is loved by their fans. However, group members David Salem and Lolly Pop destroy their careers and have to start over again.

The pair are mistakenly thrown out of England and all of their possessions and monies are frozen, making them penniless and homeless.

Chased out of the country, David and Lolly end up in Cincinnati and have to figure out how to survive and regain their superstar status so that they can be forgiven and allowed back home to London.

Monroe, a native of Hamilton who lives in West Chester Twp., said he was chosen to play himself after someone sporting his custom tattoos was spotted by the show’s producers.

“They question where they got them done at and they told them, Adam Monroe. They found me and I did an interview kind of deal with them, I brought portfolios, chatted and talked for a couple hours and kind of gave them my outlook on a couple of things, and he really liked me,” he said of Daemon.

Monroe has been a freelance, custom design tattoo artist for four years.

Jeez people ... Be nice why do you gotta bring somebody down just because they got acknowledged for the great work they do? Don't be jealous its not you in the paper! And just because somebody has/does tattoos/piercings doesn't make them a degenerate ... They're doing what they're good at ... Its art, since when did artists become degenerates?
Anyway Good Luck with the show and Congrats man!!
