HAMILTON — Two local men remain in jail after being arraigned on burglary charges after allegedly stealing from a residence in the Lindenwald neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
Daniel Theiss, 23, of Ross Avenue, was charged with two counts of burglary, a second-degree felony. Jeremy Jackson, 23, no known address, was charged with three counts of burglary as well as on four bench warrants issued from Hamilton Municipal Court.
Theiss and Jackson were arraigned Friday and each are being held under a $100,000 bond in the Butler County Jail. They are scheduled for preliminary hearings Feb. 17.
Both men have several prior convictions.
Officer Kristy Collins, police spokeswoman, said the suspects were stopped at Dixie Highway and St. Clair Avenue in Lindenwald about 2:30 p.m. Thursday after a burglary at a residence in the 1100 block of Allen Avenue.
Collins said the investigative section recently formed a burglary task force and information led detectives to a suspect.
She said detectives had the residence under surveillance about 3 p.m. Thursday when they saw Theiss and Jackson break-in and take property from the residence.
Collins said detectives followed the men and stopped them at Dixie Highway and St. Clair Avenue, where they were arrested.
“Both suspects are believed to have been involved in several daytime burglaries,” she said. “We believe they were stealing to support drug habits.”
Collins said the suspects allegedly have stolen anything of value, including jewelry, electronics, cash, DVD players, etc.
She said the investigation remains ongoing. Since Jan. 1, there have been 39 daytime burglaries reported to police, Collins said.
