HAMILTON — A dedication ceremony for the city’s latest sculpture addition will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
The sculpture “Family of Man,” recently installed on the northwest side of the High-Main Bridge, was donated by the family of William and Jean Wolf, said Sue Samoviski, secretary of City of Sculpture.
“This is a gift to the city of Hamilton,” she said.
The sculpture, created by artist Cynthia McKean of Kentucky, is dedicated to the memory of Jean Wolf, who died in March 2008.
Jean Wolf was a strong believer in family values, said her daughter, Mary Levin of Cincinnati.
“The minute we saw this piece, we knew it was the right one,” Levin said.
The sculpture includes several pieces that depict a family unit and partly represents the circle of life, Samoviski said.
While volunteers worked to install the piece last month, Samoviski said some motorists honked and showed support for the effort, but one motorist expressed the common misconception that city tax revenue was being used to pay for the project.
“We make it possible for the sculpture to be placed, then we donate these sculptures to the city,” Samoviski said of her nonprofit organization. “No one has taken funds out of the general fund.”

I'm sure, as always, there will be the small-minded out there who will complain about it. I'm glad the City of Sculpture organization doesn't let a few malcontents bother them.
I was also glad to see the funding issue addressed in print by someone connected to CoS. Too many times those who comment here are misinformed, though it will take more than one sentence to educate many of them.
