HAMILTON — The city engineer’s office has identified several streets that are scheduled to be resurfaced this year.
It’s part of an “aggressive street refurbishing program” in which approximately 250 miles of city streets will be inventoried and evaluated, according to City Engineer Rich Engle.
For projects in 2010, Engle said a consultant will be used to conduct a study of the streets as part of the Pavement Management Plan.
The study will assist the Public Works Engineering Department in identifying which streets are the worst and prioritize them accordingly, Engle said.
The plan also includes using new software, which will rate various street conditions and provide a “uniform approach” to resurfacing and reconstruction.
This year’s projects include: Hanover Street, from Front Street to Central Avenue; 10th Street, from Dayton to High streets; Minster Street, from Second to Lane streets; Cereal Avenue, from North D Street to Hunter Avenue; Hunter Avenue, from Rhea to Cereal avenues; Bishop Avenue, from Van Hook to St. Clair avenues; Ross Avenue, from Millville Avenue to the railroad crossing; Kenworth Avenue, from Millikin Street to Millville Avenue; Corliss Avenue, from Irma to Howell avenues; South C Street, from Main to Arch streets; South F Street, from Ross Avenue to Puthoff Street; Impala Place, from Golfview Drive to Richwood Avenue; Haldimand Avenue, from Progress to Cleveland avenues; Barbara Avenue, from Mollie Drive to Madeline Place; Parkamo Avenue, from Hensley Avenue to Grand Boulevard; Hooven Avenue, from River Road to Pleasant Avenue; and Edgewood Avenue, from Millville to Park avenues.
The following streets also will be resurfaced later this year or early in 2010 as part of a sanitary sewer installation project: Western Avenue, from Kenworth Avenue to Main Street; Harrison Avenue, from Hyde Park Drive east to the dead end; Millville Avenue, from the railroad crossing to Ross Avenue; and McKinley Avenue, from Main Street to Highland Avenue.
The following streets are scheduled for resurfacing this year or early in 2010 as part of a water main replacement project: Brookwood Avenue, from Main Street to Cleveland Elementary School; and Kingston Drive, from Stahlheber Road to Brookwood Avenue.
