FAIRFIELD — Patterson Place, formerly known as Fair Plaza, has a new tenant to fit with its wellness campus goal.
The health club Planet Fitness has signed a 15-year lease for 14,000 square feet in the building. The first of its kind in the greater Cincinnati area, the club hopes to expand and open several other stores in the area in the near future, said Neyer Properties Director of Building Development Charlie Pond.
“They have a desire to grow from an entry levy position. They’re looking at six or eight or even more in the greater Cincinnati and Dayton area. For us, that was a relationship we wanted to form,” Pond said.
Planet Fitness owner John Clancy believed it’s the atmosphere of Planet Fitness that sets it apart from other gyms.
“We have top-of-the-line strength and cardio equipment, along with elliptical machines, treadmills and tanning booths and beds,” he said in a news release.
The addition is just one part of a redevelopment project between the city of Fairfield and Neyer Properties to improve Fairfield’s town center.
According to a news release, the mixed-use plan calls for an updated 60,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping and professional services center, a 120-unit, three-story senior living complex, and senior patio homes. Walking trails, green space and a pond with a fountain will also be added to the area.
For 7,500- square feet of development still available, Pond said having a tenant that fits with the building’s wellness campus goal would be a “compliment,” but not a requirement. Partners in Prime was a previous tenant of Fair Plaza before the redevelopment agreement, and Neyer Properties decided it wouldn’t continue the senior center’s month-to-month lease. Partners in Prime has since relocated to 5108 Sandy Lane.
Planet Fitness is scheduled to open in September.
