ROSS TWP. — Members of the Ross Local School District have filled the position of superintendent less than a week after Todd Yohey officially tendered his resignation effective July 31.
Assistant Superintendent Greg Young on Wednesday, July 1, was named to the the position by a unanimous vote of board members.
Young, a Ross graduate, has been with the district for 21 years, the last seven as assistant superintendent.
“When Mr. Yohey informed us he was leaving we were excited at the opportunity availed to him in Oak Hills,” said board President David Brown. “When the board got together to discuss the opening, it didn’t take us long to realize we have a capable person right here in the building and we are fortunate to be in that position.”
In accepting the promotion to superintendent of schools, Young agreed to a three-year contract with a salary of $105,000 per year.
“Greg has been a valuable asset to this district for a long time,” Brown said. “And we are eager to move forward and confident that no one will work harder, or pour more passion into leading the district than Greg Young.”
In addition to his administrative experience, Young also was a social studies teacher and award-winning wrestling coach.
He began his teaching career in 1975 at Boyle County Schools in Danville, Ky., moving to Southwest Local Schools in Harrison in 1984. He became assistant principal of Ross High School in 1988 served as high school principal from 1992-2002.

I look forward to continuing the district’s tradition of excellence.”
