Staff Report 6:10 PM Monday, February 13, 2012

A bit of snow moving through the area could cause a slippery commute Tuesday.

Light snow is forecast to begin after midnight with a half inch accumulating by morning. Snow will continue into the afternoon for a total of one to two inches of accumulation, according to meteorologist Scott Hickman of the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Temperatures will rise above freezing in the afternoon, so some of the snow could mix with rain, according to the forecast.

Slick spots on roadways could develop for the Tuesday morning commute before turning to rain and slush.

More precipitation is expected on Thursday, but it should be rain with high temperatures expected to be in the mid-40s the remainder of the week, according to the forecast.
