WEST CHESTER — A Free Arts Buffet with something for the entire family will take place at the Miami University Voice of America Learning Center from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 12. The event is part of Community Arts Centers Day taking place throughout the greater Cincinnati area.

The Arts Council of West Chester & Liberty has teamed up with the VOA Learning Center for this afternoon of visual and performing arts that features the opening of an Area Arts Show in the Learning Center lobby.

The afternoon includes family art making activities, interactive art making on the lawns, sidewalk chalk art, a demonstration of Chinese painting, and a display and presentation by international food artist Terry Border of Indianapolis.

Local high school band The Plastic Inevitables will perform on the west patio at noon, followed by the West Chester Symphony String Quartet in the Learning Center lobby at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m. the presentation of local proclamations and art show awards will take in the auditorium, together with a performance by classical guitarist James Lentini and soprano Dana Lentini. Lentini, the dean of Miami University’s School of Fine Arts, is judging the art exhibition.

There will be strolling actors from C-PAL and the New Gate Celtic Theatre Group, and an opportunity to sample artisanal bread and dipping oils by local vendor Little Dipper. Greg Irwin, Hamilton resident, Miami alumnus and internationally recognized expert on hand and finger development will be present and doing roving demonstrations.

Community Arts Centers Day celebrates the benefits of arts throughout the region, and a total of 27 community arts centers are participating in the day’s activities.
