Local JCPenney store receives dual honors

The JCPenney Co. clothing store at Bridgewater Falls Lifestyle Shopping Center in Fairfield Twp. received the Chairman’s Award from the company’s chairman and chief executive officer April 29.

Myron Ullman, chairman and chief executive of JCPenney, honored eight Ohio locations for exceptional results last year, according to JCPenney. A total 160 of 1,110 stores and 10 of 72 districts were selected as Chairman’s Award winners, according to the company.

They look at sales, profits and customer service and award the top 15 percent of performers, said Nick Hartman, the Bridgewater store manager. This is the store’s second year in a row to win the award, Hartman said.

“It’s definitely our associates. It starts with leadership and making sure everyone in our team is recognized and engaged,” he said.

Before that, on April 15, the Fairfield Twp. store’s salon leader was give the company’s Champion Award for outstanding performance last year, he said. Jennifer Grathwohl was one of 65 salon leaders presented the Champion Award at a ceremony in California. JCPenney has nearly 1,000 salons. “She’s a large contributor in the store’s success,” he added.

JCPenney, 3459 Princeton Road, opened in 2005 and has 200 to 300 part- and full-time and seasonal employees, he said.

Kopco Graphics wins award three years in a row

Kopco Graphics, Inc., of Fairfield, a pressure sensitive label manufacturer, won an award from a national trade association for best managed printing companies the third time in a row this year.

Kopco received the Eugene Singer Award in March in the mid-range company category for sales of $6 to $14 million from Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute, said Allyson Lawary, a marketing representative for the company. There were winners in four different size categories, Lawary said.

Kopco moved to Fairfield in about 1994, she said.
