Didn't Hilter ban guns and didn't Hitler ban books? Then try to take over the world? Seems like Obamas plans are following the wrong people.

Dear Confused Mom:
This is about ALL of Ohio's public libraries. The new West Chester library is/will be part of the Middletown Public Library system. Take a look at YOUR library's home page and you will see how serious this situation is:

To RML: The buildings may be owned by a governmental entity but the OPERATION is funded by the librarys. These are funds that came from local taxes and are mandated to return to the community from which they came. So much for enlightenment.

Good ole' Tax'em Ted. Just like a liberal to cry for education reform and "helping the little people" and then turn around and take from them one of the very services they utilize and need the most.

To Concerned Mom:
Both the current and new libraries in West Chester are actually owned by the township. The library owns the contents, not the building. Please do some research before posting things to newspapers about things you don't understand. Libraries are an important part of the community. I guess you are lucky enough to be able to afford all of your entertainment, educational, and computer needs on your own - everyone isn't.

Why do we need to “Save your Library” ???
The $12 million project, New West Chester Township Library at Union Centre, replaces the current library building on Cox Road in the township and will be THREE times as large.

Other news reports state the this 50 percent cut would force libraries all over the state to close their doors. Cincinnati P.L. says they will have to close 20 branch libraries. The deadline to tell the governor is only a few days away. Here is how to find the gov's and state reps contact info, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE:

Talk about a library needing help - that's the Monroe Lending Library! It's a great little place, run by nice people in a truly crappy location: a tiny leftover trailer the school is renting them. As enrollment grows I suppose they could get kicked out and then what?

You need a map to find the place and they can't add anymore books or a computer because they are out of space. They are only open 3 days a week for a total of 13 hours! Help THEM Ohio!!!!!!

We need libraries now more than ever. The original intent of the library system was to share books and other resources, and now, more than ever, that just makes good financial sense. Public libraries are one of the few places where everyone has the ability to equitably access resources. It may be that some cuts are necessary, temporarily, but 50% is unrealistic and seems to be an attempt by lawmakers to deny equitable access to the resources for a segment of Ohioians.

With so much available online, I guess libraries are moving in the direction of the dinosaurs and drive-in movies. Why leave your house when you can research topics right from your desktop? As for the Governor, he's busy promoting gambling in Indiana by doing his part at keeping slots outta Ohio.
