HAMILTON — Laurin Sprague, director of fine arts for Hamilton City Schools, will be receiving the Supervision, Policy and Administration Division Award for the Ohio Art Education Association at its annual convention, Thursday, Nov. 12.
Sprague was nominated for the award by Jan Fedorenko, principal at the Hanby Arts Magnet School in Columbus, and fellow arts supervisors in Ohio.
Barb Fuerbacher, Hamilton City Schools Associate Superintendent and Melissa Pearson, Hamilton City Schools art instructor, provided letters of support for the nomination.
“Laurin is a dynamic administrator, well respected by his peers, students, and parents, and a leader in the school district as well as the community,” Fuerbacher wrote in her support letter. “He has excellent interpersonal skills, motivates staff to achieve at very high levels, is always professional, values education and is committed to lifelong learning.”
“I have enormous respect and admiration for Mr. Sprague’s dedication and leadership in building a quality and well-rounded arts program in the district,” Pearson wrote. “Our entire arts staff is strongly united. I believe this is due to a number of factors, which include his initiation of providing quality professional development opportunities.”
