Monroe vice mayor and councilman Steven Tannreuther thinks the city needs to do a better job of promoting businesses in the fast growing community.

That’s why Tannreuther, who owns Postal Solutions Plus on North Main Street in Monroe, has begun forming a networking group of residents that own businesses mostly in Monroe or in neighboring communities such as Liberty Twp., Mason and Middletown to promote the community.

“Networking is great. Say you sit there with 10 or 15 other businesses and you tell everybody what you do. Chances are there’s somebody that might need your service that day, next week or whatever,” he said.

“Even if they don’t, the purpose of those networking groups are to also give referrals,” Tannreuther said.

Tannreuther said the networking group also is a great way to make needed changes if necessary in the community to make the city more business-friendly.

The group will conduct a kickoff meeting at 7 a.m. July 14 at Coffee Beans and Brew, 294 N. Main St., in Monroe. The group plans to meet at that time at different locations the second Tuesday of every month, Tannreuther said.

“All new businesses in Monroe or the surrounding community are welcome to join,” he said.

He said he plans to invite William Brock, Monroe’s city manager, to speak about the state of Monroe at the group’s first meeting.

“The primary focus is Monroe, but we’re not limiting it to Monroe. We need to promote the businesses in this town. It will be an opportunity for every business here in town to showcase what they do,” he said.

Tannreuther also is encouraging the city to conduct a similar business expo like the one featured May 12 by the West Chester Chamber Alliance at Skatetown USA.

“I’m excited about doing this and I’m really excited about getting this business expo kicked off. I really want to see this, it’s something that’s never been done in this town and we’d really like to see it done,” he said.

All Tannreuther wants to do is figure out a way to siphon money out of the taxpayers to help his business. He's not kidding anyone, nor will we forget the lockout Mr. Tannreuther.
