HAMILTON — A fire Thursday night, Nov. 5, damaged a duplex residence on Henry Street, leaving two families without a place to stay.

Hamilton firefighters were called to 425 Henry St., about 8:25 p.m., and found smoke pouring out of the back of the two-story residence, according to firefighters. The fire was found and quickly extinguished on the first floor.

Four adults and two children, who were home at the time of the fire, escaped without injury. The Red Cross is assisting the residents.

Fire damage was contained to the first floor kitchen area, but the entire building suffered moderate smoke damage. Damage is estimated at $20,000.

Fire Investigator Tom Angst was at the scene, but the exact cause has not yet been determined.

“I have no reason to believe it was anything but an accidental fire,” Angst said this morning, Nov. 6.

The Hamilton Fire Dept found the right address this time - good going guys. Did you send one your six Deputy Chiefs back to D. Russell Lee to learn how to determine which door to chop down?
