FAIRFIELD — In the words of choral director Jeff Clark, the Fairfield High School Choraliers have another “feather in our cap.”
The Choraliers show choir has been chosen to perform at the Ohio School Boards Association 2011 Student Achievement Fair on Tuesday in Columbus.
Fairfield is one of just five in the state chosen to perform at the fair, which is a highlight of OSBA’s 56th annual Capital Conference and Trade Show. The conference, Ohio’s premier education event, starts Sunday and runs through Wednesday.
“It’s another honor for the Choraliers,” Clark said. “We’re looking forward to going to Columbus to perform. We’re very pleased to have this opportunity.”
School board member Dan Murray, whose daughter Brenna is a member of the Choraliers vocal group, recommended them as a performing ensemble, and they were selected to represent the Southwest Region.
The Choraliers will perform from 2:40 to 3 p.m. in Hall D of the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus.
“We are proud to have well-rounded, talented students in our Fairfield choirs,” Clark said. “And I believe this is another testament to their ability and skill. We are privileged to be chosen for this performance.”
The OSBA Student Achievement Fair is a showcase of innovative programs that Ohio public school districts have created to promote exceptional student achievement. The event will highlight 100 outstanding initiatives from Ohio school districts.
More than 10,000 public school board members, administrators and guests are expected to attend the Capital Conference, the second-largest education convention in the United States.
In addition, more than 600 exhibitors will display their goods and services at the Trade Show, the nation’s largest education trade exhibition.
