FAIRFIELD — Animal control officials are seeking the public’s help and a reward has been offered in the case of a “severely starved” found Monday at Joyce Park.
“It is heartbreaking when you see one come in that has been so starved and cannot walk and has been dumped like a piece of trash. There are so many other humane options available if you do not want your pet,” said Butler County chief dog warden and humane officer Julia A. Holmes in a news release.
As of Tuesday, the dog, a female, was more alert but is still in pain, according to a release from Meg Stephenson of the Animal Friends Humane Society. The dog is undergoing extensive treatment at the Animal Care Center of Fairfield.
The Fairfield Police Department is collecting evidence from the blanket, collar and leash left with the dog that may help identify the owner. The blanket is blue and gold featuring the Pillsbury doughboy. A reward is offered for information leading to a conviction, and police and humane officials are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The Butler County Dog Warden can be reached at (513) 887-7297.
