MIDDLETOWN — The family of Jim Armbruster reported the councilman continues to feel better, but said he is still in critical condition at Atrium Medical Center Friday, March 12.

Rachel Lewitt, a spokeswoman for the family, said Armbruster continues to rest and heal at the hospital, with no clear word on when he might be released.

“The community’s pouring out of love and support has been amazing,” Lewitt said. “It’s so appreciated by the entire family. Jim is receiving excellent care from Atrium staff that is enabling him to recover.”

The 66-year-old Middletown City Councilman was taken to the hospital by ambulance Saturday morning after experiencing shortness of breath at the Bob Evans restaurant on Village Drive. He was eating breakfast with his wife when he apparently had trouble breathing, according to fire department officials.

Representatives with Atrium Medical Center are unable to provide any information regarding Armbruster’s condition or even confirm he is being treated at the hospital.

“By law, if someone is not listed in our facility directory we cannot provide any information about them,” spokeswoman Wendy Parks said. “Any patient has the right to choose whether or not to list themself in our directory.”

Armbruster was elected to his second term on City Council in November.
