Cornerstone Cafe has a reputation for serving healthy sandwiches, gourmet pizzas, tasty soups and creative salads, and now early risers can choose from several breakfast items at both the West Chester and Hamilton locations.
“We decided that a variety of sausage, egg, bacon and cheese biscuits, croissant sandwiches, bagels and wraps would be appreciated by our early morning customers,” said owner Jay Patel.Patel has owned West Chester’s Cornerstone Cafe since last November, and he converted the former Rhonda’s Courthouse Cafe in downtown Hamilton in February.
While both locations offer many of the same items, there are also differences between the two.
“We have beer and wine in West Chester as well as outdoor dining and Saturday hours,” Patel said.
Both Cornerstone Cafe locations feature daily soup specials that are sure to please the palates of those looking for something a bit different. Tomato Bisque, Lobster Bisque and Chicken Tortilla soups are available every day, and specialty soups such as Portobello and Barley are regular features.
The sandwich menu features selections that are healthier than the typical burger and fries, with the Caribbean Chicken being a customer favorite. The chicken breast is marinated and topped with red onion, lettuce, tomato basil and balsamic vinegar, and served on an asiago herb focaccia.
Other lunch sandwiches include the Cajun turkey and the Cajun roast beef, and the “Half and Half” lunch special allows customers to choose half a sandwich with either half a salad or cup of soup.
“The Half and Half means that we just reduce the amount of meat on the sandwich, not the bread size so the portions are still large,” Patel said.
Pizza lovers will enjoy the gourmet choices from the restaurant’s stone hearth, and the 7-inch with a salad and drink is another lunchtime option. Other pizza choices include the Thai Pie, which is topped with marinated chicken breast, red peppers, onions, sunflower seeds, peanuts and ginger sauce.
The Cornerstone Special features sun-dried tomato pesto, roma and sun-dried tomatoes, yellow peppers, Italian sausage, portobello mushrooms, and feta and mozzarella cheese.
All pizzas are served in the 7-inch personal size or the larger 12-inch portion.Lunch delivery is available at both locations with a $25 minimum order and $5 delivery fee. Patel offers gourmet box lunches for local companies and others who need large orders, and with advance notice he’ll rent out his restaurants during off-hours for large parties. Both locations of Cornerstone Cafe have free WiFi, and carry-out is available. Fax orders are also accepted.
