HAMILTON — The Colleagues of Fort Hamilton hospital are holding the annual Lights of Love ceremony, a living memorial dedicated to friends, family and community leaders.

Residents may purchase a light to commemorate a person or special event, such as anniversaries, birthdays, holidays and in honor or in memory of a loved one.

The special lighting ceremony, open to the public, is 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, said Marielou Vierling, hospital spokeswoman.

All proceeds raised through donations to Lights of Love will be used to purchase critical care equipment. Last year, the group raised $6,000 for hospital projects and equipment, according to Fort Hamilton officials.

The lighting ceremony will include refreshments and feature music from The Westover Prepatory School Children and the Ross High School concert choir, the lighting of the display and refreshments.

There also will be a check presentation to the hospital from representatives of Brown’s Market, which is donating the proceeds from its annual Charity Auction to the Fort Hamilton’s Gebhart Center for Cancer Care. Vierling said this is the company’s second consecutive year making a donation.

Lights cost $5, or seven for $30. A limited number of special snowflakes are available for $100. Order forms for Lights of Love are available at the hospital’s information desk in the front lobby, by calling Fort Hamilton Hospital’s volunteer services at (513) 867-2281 or visiting FortHamiltonHospital.com.
