Better bundle up. Winter’s on it’s way.

If you haven’t checked your calendar yet — tomorrow’s Dec. 1, and temperatures are starting to fall.

By week’s end, Friday, Dec. 4, temperatures are predicted to be about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year, according to Don Hughes, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The highs Friday are expected to be only in the low 30s, he said.

“Normally the low should be 43 degrees,” Hughes said.

Today’s high, Monday, Nov. 30, should reach the low 40s, with lows in the 30s overnight, he said. We should see some sun this morning with rain possibly in the afternoon. Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high of around 50, falling to the low 30s at night, he said.

Wednesday should see another cold front gradually moving in from Canada with a little morning sunshine with widely scattered rain showers likely followed by rain showers in the afternoon and highs in the 50s, Hughes said. That’ll be the last warm day, as Wednesday night should bring rain showers mixing with snow showers but no accumulation, he said. After midnight the temperatures should drop into the mid 30s, he said.

Thursday should be a brisk cloudy day with a 40 percent chance of snow, Hughes said. Highs should be in the upper 30s.
