MONROE — When the ribbon is cut at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, shoppers will descend on Cincinnati Premium Outlets in search of deals with coupons in hand.

Chelsea Property Group broke ground on the shopping center June 25, 2008, and will celebrate its grand opening Thursday through Sunday.

Chelsea officials have been distributing free VIP coupon book vouchers, and Fashion Week coupons are available at www.premiumoutlets.com. Shoppers who have signed up for the VIP Shopper Club and have their voucher for a free coupon book may pick it up at the information booth at the Food Court, said Cincinnati Premium Outlet representative Kori Mallett.

The only deal shoppers won’t be happy with is the traffic, and Monroe city and Cincinnati Premium Outlets officials are bracing for it.

Shoppers will have to enter on Ohio 63 and should “follow the directions of police and security so they can quickly move cars in and out,” Mallett said.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has adjusted the two traffic signals on the north and south bound exit ramps off Interstate 75 onto Ohio 63 in Monroe and the traffic signal at Senate Drive and Ohio 63 to help traffic flow, said Sharon Smigielski, an ODOT public information officer.

Plans also call for eight officers from the city and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office to be assigned to traffic duty outside the outlet center, said Monroe police Chief Greg Homer.

The mall is off Interstate 75, exit 29, in Monroe.

Grand-opening weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Regular mall hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

I still would like to know who's bright idea it was to start the construction on 63 only 2 months before the scheduled opening of these outlets. How long did we know the opening date?? And this road construction couldn't have begun sooner?? It is going to be a complete mess for months until this is completed. Believe me, I want to check out the new mall, but the road construction will keep me away for a LONG time.
