Bus service between Middletown and Hamilton will begin again on Monday, May 4. The hourlong route will travel mostly along Ohio 4 between bus hubs in both cities and cost $2 each way, officials said.

The northbound routes will run at 8:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

It will have eight stops: at Hanover and 14th streets in Hamilton; the Market Street Hub in Hamilton; High Street and Erie Highway in Hamilton; Princeton Road and Bypass Ohio 4 in Fairfield Twp.; Hamilton-Middletown and Liberty-Fairfield roads in Liberty Twp.; Hamilton-Middletown Road and Main Street in Middletown; Ninth Avenue and Yankee Road in Middletown; and the MTS Hub on Broad Street.

The southbound routes will go in reverse order from Middletown and will begin at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m., and at 2:15 and 4:15 p.m.

Officials said riders can also call to have the bus stop for them at a specific place along the route by calling (513) 785-5237.

This is a fabulous thing. There is very little affordable public transportation in this county. Low income workers, people with disabilities, and the elderly greatly need this service.

This bus route will not last as long as the two cities think it will, it is simply not worth it.

What is the percentage of the population of Hamilton and Middletown that will use this service? Compare that to the cost of running this service and see how long it will take at $2 per trip to recoup this money. Is it worth the cost to serve a small portion of these two cities? Doubtful.
