HAMILTON — Bob Jacoby has been hired as varsity football coach at Hamilton High School.
Jacoby, 53, was unanimously approved Tuesday night, March 9, at the Hamilton City School District Board of Education meeting.
He replaces Jim Place, who resigned Jan. 4, following four years as coach.
“Welcome aboard, Mr. Jacoby. We look forward to a great career for you here,” school board President George Jonson said.
“I just want to say ‘Go Big Blue,’ ” Jacoby said. “I want to thank everyone for your confidence in me, and I look forward to getting started and becoming a member of the community here in Hamilton.”
Jacoby coached Columbus St. Francis DeSales for 18 seasons before leaving in 2007 to go to Hamilton Twp. in the Columbus area, where he also is dean of students.
At DeSales, Jacoby went 169-68 and led the Stallions to six state championship games, winning back-to-back titles in 1997 and 1998 while finishing runner-up in 1990, 1996, 2001 and 2005.
“We’ve got an outstanding person coming in,” HHS Athletic Director Mike Dellapina said. “I don’t think I’ve ever been in a situation where I’ve had a person come so highly recommended.”
