HAMILTON — When the Primary Health Solutions Bever Pavilion on Second Street expanded to the city’s west side in April, agency officials thought they had almost too much space.

That was before a busted pipe last month at the organization’s downtown location caused damages approaching the $200,000 mark and forced them to temporarily move.

At least they were prepared, according to Marc Bellisario, Bever Pavilion’s chief executive.

“We knew we would eventually need the space,” Bellisario said. “But we didn’t know how quickly we were going to use the space.”

Bellisario said a pipe in the Second Street building’s geothermal heating and cooling system burst sometime overnight June 15. Because the break happened on the second floor, the Pavilion’s first floor office was left in tatters before the water was finally shut off — electronics, including $30,000 in computer equipment, were found water logged and ruined. Hundreds of medical records had to be sent away to be professionally dried.

“It’s pretty extensive,” Bellisario said of the damage.

It was the second time such an incident happened, Bellisario said. On Oct. 31, a similar burst was caught much earlier and the damage minimal by comparison, he said.

Soon after the flooding, the center moved its downtown operation to the new space at 903 N.W. Washington Blvd., Suite A. The center’s downtown number, (513) 892-1888, will be transferred to the new location, which is open six days a week, including Saturdays.

Bellisario said renovations to the Second Street building should be finished in the next three to four weeks.
