HAMILTON — The annual Catholic Schools Week at Badin High School begins Monday with the theme “You are the Light of the World.”
“This is a great opportunity for our students to understand that they truly can make an impact on the world around them through their efforts,” said Gina Helms, director of Campus Ministry for Badin. “This is always a positive week in Catholic schools to bring home that message.”
Badin will hold its all-school Mass on Monday at 10 a.m., with BHS chaplain Father Rob Muhlenkamp presiding.
The school has also scheduled its second annual Family Mass 7 p.m. Thursday at 7 p.m. in the school’s St. Basil’s Chapel. Families are encouraged to bring in a family prayer candle to be blessed by Muhlenkamp. There will be a reception in the lobby following the Mass.
A number of Badin students will participate in the annual Archdiocesan Catholic Schools Week Mass on Tuesday morning at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in downtown Cincinnati. This Mass brings students together from every school in the archdiocese.
At 6 p.m. on Monday, Badin will offer a free screening of the 1992 film “The Power of One” in the Little Theatre to help kick off the theme of individuals making a difference. All interested are invited to attend. Popcorn and bottled water will be available at no charge.
That idea will be underscored on Wednesday when students have the opportunity to get donor cards and information from the Donate Life organization, which serves as a go-between for various organ donors and the hospitals.
On Feb. 3, Badin graduates Molly McCaughey and Chad Beatty will speak to an all-school assembly on The Power of One – about the valuable contributions they have made as individuals through various projects.
This is the 38th annual Catholic Schools Week, which celebrates Catholic education on a national level.
