FAIRFIELD — Approximately 40 people remain displaced after a two-alarm fire at a Fairfield apartment building late Wednesday night.
Crews responded to the blaze at 3859 Woodridge Blvd. a little after 10 p.m. to find smoke and water damage to the 12-unit building, according to Fairfield police patrol supervisor Sgt. Amy Mays.
The fire, which appeared to have started in a third-floor apartment, did not cause any injuries and the cause or damage estimates have not been determined.
The Red Cross arrived at the scene to assist those who were displaced before emergency crews cleared the scene at approximately 3 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
