WEST CHESTER TWP. — AK Steel Corp. announced Jan. 22 that Lisa A. Vensel has been named general manager of electrical steel sales, effective on Feb. 1.
Vensel will be responsible for AK Steel’s global sales of its electrical steel products, according to the company.
“This new position reflects AK Steel’s ongoing commitment of exceptional service to our customers to help meet the growing need for new and more efficient electrical power in the U.S. and around the world,” said Jim Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel. “Lisa brings a strong professional background of technical and customer service experience to the position and we are very pleased that she will lead our electrical steel sales efforts.”
AK Steel is one of the largest producers in the world of silicon-alloy electrical steels and is the leading producer of the high performance grain-oriented grades, according to the company.
After joining the company in 1986, Vensel served in several engineering assignments at the Butler Works in Pennsylvania. She progressed through a number of electrical steel production and quality positions before advancing to product metallurgy and quality analysis manager in 2004. In 2008, she was named general manager of manufacturing planning for AK Steel.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics / Computer Science from Westminster College and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
